Hold the Line is a free tower defense game. This page explains what the game stores about you, why, and how to have it deleted.
What we store
- A player ID. When you play online, the game creates an anonymous account so clans and leaderboards know which player is which. It isn't linked to your name.
- Your nickname, clan and clan chat. The name you choose, the clan you join or create, and messages you send in clan chat are stored so other clan members can see them.
- World chat. Messages you send in World chat, with your nickname and clan tag, can be seen by every player. They are kept for 7 days and then deleted. If other players report a message, a copy is kept with the report until we review it.
- Bug reports and feature requests. If you send one from Settings, we keep what you wrote along with technical details to help fix bugs: the app and game version, platform (Android, iPhone or web), whether you play in 2D or 3D, your device model or browser, and your screen size. Only we can read them. We keep them only as long as we need them to fix the issue or consider the idea. We don't ask for your email.
- Match results. Waves reached, enemies defeated and wins count toward clan events and rankings.
- Your email address, only if you sign in with Google or Apple. It's used to back up your progress and restore it on another device.
- Your game progress is saved on your device. If you sign in, a copy is backed up to our server. If you make a transfer code to move to a new phone, a copy is kept until the code is used or for one day, whichever comes first.
Ads
The Android and iPhone apps show an ad between matches, served by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising ID, rough location from your IP address, and how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. Google's use of this data is covered by Google's advertising policy.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it with anyone besides the ad network above.
- We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos or anything else on your device.
Where it's stored
Online data is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and is encrypted in transit. You can play offline as a guest, in which case nothing leaves your device.
Children
The game is meant for players 13 and older because of clan chat and World chat.
Deleting your account and data
In the game, open Settings → Account → Delete my account and tap it twice to confirm. This immediately deletes your account, your nickname, your clan membership, your clan and World chat messages, your bug reports and feature requests, and your cloud save from our server, and erases your progress on that device. If you lead a clan, leadership passes to the next member.
If you can't open the game, email phillip@directgigs.app with your nickname and we'll delete everything within 30 days.
Reports other players made about your messages are deleted along with your messages. Nothing is kept after deletion except anonymous totals, such as clan event scores.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
